Microsoft has opened UK pre-orders for its new Xbox Nano Controller, priced at £44.99. The company announced the controller on Wednesday (14 October), describing it as its smallest Xbox controller to date and an entry-level option for younger players and smaller hands.
“Its compact design offers a great option for younger players, smaller hands, or anyone seeking something portable for play on the go,” said James Hunter, General Manager of Xbox Accessories at Microsoft.
The controller measures a little over 5 inches (12.7cm) in length and weighs 3.5 ounces (99g), which Microsoft said makes it shorter and lighter than most modern smartphones.
It keeps all 18 standard gameplay inputs and the standard Xbox button layout, including the D-pad, ABXY buttons and top buttons.
UK pricing
Microsoft said the controller will go on sale in the UK from November, alongside the US, Ireland, Australia and more than 30 other markets.
UK buyers ordering directly from the Microsoft Store get free shipping and easy returns.
In the US, the controller costs $49.99.
Features
The Nano Controller runs on an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery, but Microsoft does not include a USB-C cable in the box.
Buyers will need to buy the USB-C cable separately to charge the controller.
It supports both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth, letting players pair it with and switch between the following devices:
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles
- Windows PCs and Xbox on PC
- Android and iOS phones
- Select smart TVs
The controller also has a programmable Action Button, which players can set up for screenshots, gameplay capture and other frequently used shortcuts.
Players can customise the button mapping on the controller through the Xbox Accessories app.
Microsoft is pitching the Nano as a primary or back-up controller for quick sessions, family game nights and travel.
The company highlighted Minecraft Dungeons II, Grounded 2, Bluey’s Happy Snaps, Roblox, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Forza Horizon 6 as games suited to the controller.
Minecraft Dungeons II supports up to four players in local co-op on the same screen, as well as online.
Microsoft also announced two US-only holiday bundles that pair the controller with two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members.
The first comes with the purchase of select Samsung TVs, while the second comes with the purchase of a Meta Quest headset.
