  • Pre-orders are open now, with deliveries from 13 November.

Apple’s new HomeView smart display costs £299 in the UK, with pre-orders open now and deliveries from 13 November.

Apple announced the device on Wednesday (14 October), describing it as a shared home screen that recognises each member of the household by their face.

HomeView pairs a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with a domed speaker base, and runs Siri AI, the completely rebuilt version of Apple’s voice assistant.

UK customers can pre-order HomeView from Apple’s online store and the Apple Store app, with both models arriving on Friday, 13 November.

UK pricing

Apple sells HomeView in two versions at the same price:

  • Apple HomeView (tabletop) – £299, in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey
  • Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) – £299, in space grey and silver

The wall-mounted model attaches using one of three purpose-built mounts from Schneider Home, which Apple sells separately:

  • Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector – from £54.95, available to order now
  • Power Mount AC Wired – from £69.95, available to order now
  • Power Mount PoE Wired – £119.95, arriving in early 2027

Customers buying the wall-mounted version therefore pay at least £353.95 once they add the cheapest mount. Apple also offers self-installation or professional installation options for the wall mounts.

HomeView will not go on sale in the European Union because Siri AI remains unavailable in iOS there. Apple said it was working with the EU to find a way forward.

Design and display

The tabletop model uses an aluminium body with a stainless steel hinge, which lets users tilt the screen for viewing at different heights.

Automatic brightness ranges from 500 nits for sunlit rooms down to 0.3 nits for bedside use.

The interface also adapts to the user’s distance, showing simpler information from across the room and more detail up close.

Face recognition and personal profiles

HomeView recognises up to six people by their faces, giving each person their own Home Screen with apps and widgets.

Personal content in Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My appears only for the recognised user.

Apple added that personal content only surfaces when the user’s paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and recently unlocked. Shared photo albums and music remain available to everyone in the household, including guests.

Siri AI

HomeView marks the debut of Siri AI on a home device, with Apple claiming the assistant is far more conversational and has broad world knowledge.

Owners of an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad get extra features, with Siri drawing on their Calendar, Messages and other apps for personalised answers.

Users without a compatible iPhone or iPad still get Siri AI’s general knowledge, natural conversation and improved music discovery.

Conversations started on HomeView carry over to the Siri app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro through iCloud.

Siri AI on HomeView launches in English in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa.

“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user,” said Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Apple.

Audio and entertainment

The tabletop model packs two full-range drivers in the display, plus a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators in the base.

The wall-mounted version uses two custom drivers with audio tuning designed specifically for on-wall placement.

HomeView supports Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Apple TV and compatible third-party audio and video apps.

Users can hand off music from an iPhone by holding it in front of the display, and group HomeView with HomePod and AirPlay speakers for multiroom audio.

Calls, messages and kitchen features

HomeView supports FaceTime with Center Stage, which keeps callers framed as they move around the room.

Users can read and reply to messages by voice or with an onscreen keyboard, and broadcast Intercom messages to other Apple devices in the home.

Apple said HomeView can also turn recipes from the web into step-by-step instructions, with hands-free timers and ingredient tracking.

Smart home controls

HomeView works as a smart home dashboard, letting users view camera feeds, adjust thermostats and lights, lock doors and close blinds by touch or voice.

The Home Camera face can stream up to nine camera feeds at once.

Users with a supported iCloud+ subscription get end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, pets, packages and vehicles from compatible cameras.

HomeView also listens for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and alerts users on their iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

The device works with Matter accessories and Apple Home Collection, Apple’s first range of smart home cameras, thermostats and a lock, developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

Privacy

Apple said HomeView and its A18 chip use Secure Exclaves, which process camera and microphone data separately from the rest of the system.

The company added that neither HomeView’s software, apps, the user nor Apple can access data processed in these Secure Exclaves.

Siri requests run either on the device or through Private Cloud Compute, which Apple said does not store data or make it accessible to anyone.
