Vodafone has launched SuperMobile, a UK plan offering speeds up to four times faster than standard contracts.

Vodafone said the plan runs on its new 5G+ FastTrack technology and combines faster speeds with guaranteed minimum speeds and advanced security.

The operator said SuperMobile aims to deliver faster downloads and smoother streaming, particularly when network demand is high.

SuperMobile works as an optional upgrade, letting customers unlock an enhanced connectivity experience on top of their existing service.

Vodafone said all customers continue to benefit from its network improvements without needing to change their plan or pay more.

“Powered by our new 5G+ FastTrack, on the UK’s fastest 5G+ network, Vodafone SuperMobile gives customers speeds up to four times faster than standard plans, along with guaranteed minimum speeds. It’s all about helping customers spend less time waiting and more time doing, particularly when network demand is high,” said a Vodafone spokesperson.

SuperMobile runs on VodafoneThree’s network, which the company said it is currently upgrading through an £11 billion investment programme.

The company plans to roll out 5G Standalone coverage to 99% of the UK population by 2030 and 99.96% by 2034.

Race against Britain’s fastest woman

To promote the launch, Vodafone challenged Dina Asher-Smith, the fastest British woman in history, to race SuperMobile over 200m.

The test asked whether the plan could download her 150-track training playlist before she crossed the finish line.

Asher-Smith holds the British 200m record of 21.88 seconds, meaning SuperMobile needed to download nearly seven songs every second to win.

SuperMobile downloaded the full playlist in 21.2 seconds, which Vodafone said amounts to around nine hours of music.

“As a sprinter, every second counts, so I was genuinely impressed that SuperMobile managed to beat me! Speed is obviously a huge part of my life, both on and off the track, and music plays a big role in my training and getting me ready to run fast,” said Asher-Smith.
