Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra – UK pricing revealed

Microsoft has officially unveiled its new Surface Laptop Ultra, which it says is its most powerful Surface Laptop ever.

The laptop, which is positioned as a direct competitor to Apple’s MacBook Pro, is powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip, which delivers high-end performance in a compact and power-efficient package.

As a result of the Nvidia hardware inside, the Surface Laptop Ultra sports up to 6,144 GPU cores, a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU, and up to 128GB of unified memory.

This makes the laptop a powerhouse for local AI, capable of running models exceeding 120B parameters directly on the device.

To accommodate this impressive hardware, Microsoft has designed its new Surface Laptop Ultra to deliver up to 2.5 times more thermal power capacity than its previous Surface Laptops.

It sports a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra touchscreen with HDR support and up to 25% brighter peak HDR than the MacBook Pro M5.

Storage on the new Surface Laptop Ultra is also removable, allowing the user to remove, replace, or upgrade their storage on their own, without visiting a store or repair centre.

The Surface Laptop Ultra also forgoes the old Surface connector for a new magnetically attached USB-C charging cable, which Microsoft calls Magnetic Connect. It sports two additional USB-C ports, an HDMI port, a single USB-A port, SD card reader, and 3.5mm audio jack.
