GTA VI coming to PC in early 2027: report

Rockstar Games plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI on PC in early 2027. Four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans said the PC version is slated for the first quarter of the year, only a few months after the console launch on 19 November.

Rockstar has confirmed the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch, with the PC version previously expected at an unspecified later date.

A Q1 2027 release would be a far quicker turnaround than Grand Theft Auto V, which reached PC in April 2015, roughly 19 months after its console debut in September 2013.

HotMinute reported in September that UK workers were booking up to seven days of annual leave for the console launch, with a Reddit thread on the subject drawing more than 940 comments in under a day.

A number of commenters in that thread said they would hold out for the PC release rather than buy a console to play the game.

The PC version is also closely tied to the future of online roleplay in the series, a major draw for Grand Theft Auto V players.

Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind the Grand Theft Auto V roleplaying framework FiveM, in August 2023.

FiveM only runs on the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, meaning every roleplay session on its servers takes place on PC.

Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy said at Tokyo Game Show in September that the online mode for Grand Theft Auto VI would launch next year.

Rockstar has delayed the game twice, having first announced a 2025 release window in December 2023 before pushing it back to May 2026 and then to 19 November.

Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed the 19 November console date during its earnings calls this year.

Console players in the UK can pre-load the game from 12 November, ahead of the midnight unlock on 19 November.
