Starlink coming to easyJet flights in the UK

Key Points

  • easyJet will offer onboard Wi-Fi for the first time through Starlink
  • Rollout starts in the first half of 2027 and should finish by early 2028
  • A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft will all get the service
  • Passengers will be able to stream, game, browse and check flight status

easyJet will bring Starlink internet to its 100 million yearly passengers from the first half of 2027. The airline said the rollout will cover its A320, A320neo and A321neo fleet, with every aircraft expected to be connected by early 2028.

This marks the first time easyJet has offered Wi-Fi on board its flights. easyJet said passengers will be able to stream, game and browse on their own devices, with the connection managed by Starlink.

Passengers will also be able to check their flight status through the easyJet app and website while in the air. The service will let travellers look up local weather, transport and tourism information for their destination before landing.

easyJet added that the technology could also let customers order from the inflight menu from their seats. The airline said it hopes the service will attract more business and leisure customers to its flights.

“In an increasingly digital world, staying connected matters more than ever to many of our customers, whether that’s holidaymakers looking to unwind with inflight entertainment, or our business customers keeping up to speed with what’s happening on the ground,” said Kenton Jarvis, CEO at easyJet.

“Giving customers the opportunity to get online in the air will mean even greater choice and convenience when you fly with easyJet,” said Jarvis.

SpaceX, which engineers and operates Starlink, said the service will keep passengers connected from take-off to landing.

“Fast, reliable connectivity from take-off to landing means people can work, stream, or stay in touch without interruption,” said Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX.

Starlink delivers broadband through a constellation of satellites in low-Earth orbit. Other airlines already using Starlink include Qatar Airways, United Airlines and Air France. easyJet operates more than 350 aircraft on over 1,200 routes to more than 160 airports across 35 countries.
