Key Points

  • Delays and part closures are expected on portions of the Underground and Overground networks in London this weekend.
  • The District line will not run between Edgware Road and Wimbledon on Saturday and Sunday, meaning those travelling to South West London should make alternative arrangements.

People travelling in London this weekend can expect disruption to certain Underground and Overground lines, with the bulk of issues expected for Sunday.

This is according to data from Transport for London (TfL)’s travel status portal, which shows expected disruptions to services across its network in the coming days.

On Friday, there are minor delays on the Bakerloo Underground line and portions of the Central line. There are also severe delays on the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Reading / Heathrow due to an obstruction on overhead power lines.

Saturday has fewer expected delays, although there will be no Windrush line service between Clapham Junction and Surrey Quays all day and until 7:15pm on Sunday 6 September.

Additionally, the District line will be partly closed on both Saturday and Sunday, with no service between Edgware Road and Wimbledon on Saturday and Sunday. TfL advised that for those travelling to or from the Fulham vs Crystal Palace fixture on Saturday, it may be easier to walk to Hammersmith station.

On Sunday, there will be no service on the Suffragette line between Gospel Oak and Woodgrange Park.

The Elizabeth line will also be partly closed on Sunday morning, with no service running between Ealing Broadway and Paddington until 07:45am.

Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.
