Wimbledon 2027 tickets: Public ballot now open for the 150th Championships

The All England Lawn Tennis Club has opened the public ballot for Wimbledon 2027, with entries accepted until 23h59 on 14 September and successful applicants able to buy one pair of tickets at face value.

Wimbledon announced the opening of the ballot through its official account on Tuesday (1 September), billing the 2027 tournament as a “once-in-a-generation” celebration of 150 years of The Championships. The first Wimbledon tournament took place in 1877.

The 2027 Championships will run from 28 June to 11 July 2027, with qualifying taking place the week before the main draw.

Anyone wanting to enter the ballot needs a free myWimbledon account, which can be set up through the Wimbledon tickets page. Wimbledon said that it accepts one application per household, email address and account.

Applicants cannot choose their dates, courts or seats, and Wimbledon allocates tickets at random from whatever remains available. Those who succeed in the ballot can buy a single pair of tickets at face value.

Wimbledon typically notifies applicants of the outcome in January or February, and successful entrants then have a short window in which to pay for their tickets in full.

The Wimbledon app

Wimbledon no longer issues paper tickets as standard, and ballot winners receive their tickets through the official Wimbledon app, which the All England Lawn Tennis Club developed with IBM. Ticket holders must show their mobile ticket in the app alongside photo ID to enter the grounds.

The 2026 version of the app required iOS 18 or newer, which ruled out any iPhone older than the iPhone XR and XS, and Wimbledon said that it would confirm supported Android versions closer to the tournament. Tickets cannot be downloaded to a device in advance, so ticket holders need a working internet connection at the gate.

Anyone attending with a partner needs to share the second ticket through the app, and the other attendee must have their own myWimbledon account to receive it. Those without a compatible smartphone can collect paper tickets from the Ticket Resolution Office at Gate 3.

What to expect for the 150th year

Wimbledon will unveil a statue of Andy Murray as part of the anniversary, with Murray involved in its design.

Wimbledon also confirmed that the redeveloped Henman Hill, also known as Murray Mound, will be ready for the 2027 tournament.

The redevelopment adds around 20% more capacity alongside improved wheelchair access, additional seating, shade and rain cover, and new landscaping.

The promotional image released alongside the ballot announcement shows current players including Aryna Sabalenka, Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff in all-white kit, with faded images of past champions behind them beneath an “1877–2027 / 150” crest. Several replies to the post pointed out that 2025 champion Iga Świątek does not appear in the artwork.

For those who miss out in the ballot, Wimbledon offers several other routes to a ticket:

• The Queue, which sells a limited number of tickets on the day of play
• Official hospitality packages through Keith Prowse
• Debentures, which remain the only tickets that can be legally resold
• The official returns shop, which releases tickets handed back by ballot winners

Wimbledon expects demand for the 2027 tournament to exceed that of a typical year because of the anniversary.

Tickets bought through the ballot cannot be resold or transferred, with the exception of official debentures. Wimbledon said that unsuccessful applicants later receive access to its official returns shop.

The Lawn Tennis Association ran a separate Advantage ballot for members of affiliated tennis clubs, and that ballot has already closed.
