London Tube and Overground disruptions this bank holiday weekend: 28 -31 August

  • Several London Underground and Overground services will experience disruptions this bank holiday weekend.
  • The Northern line will be partly closed between Archway and Mill Hill East / High Barnet from Saturday until Monday.
  • The Windrush line will also be partly closed for the whole bank holiday weekend.
  • Tram works continue in South London and are scheduled to end on Monday 31 August.

A number of London Underground services will experience disruptions this bank holiday weekend, as well as a few Overground lines on Monday.

This is according Transport for London (TfL)’s travel status information at the time of writing, which include delays to Underground services on Friday and part closures on Saturday on Sunday on certain services.

On Friday, the Central and Circle line are experiencing minor delays due to train cancellations, but Overground services are running services as normal.

On Saturday and all day on Sunday and Monday, there will be no service on the Northern line between Archway and High Barnet / Mill Hill East.

The Windrush Overground line will also not run between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction / Battersea Park on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

On Sunday and Monday, the DLR will be closed between Shadwell and Tower Gateway. Monday will also see the Weaver line partly closed in the evening, and reduced service on the Suffragette line.

Those travelling in South London should know there is ongoing disruption to the tram network until Sunday 30 August, with no service between Reeves Corner and East Croydon, and no service between Arena and Elmers End at certain times in the evening and early morning.

Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.

Below are the planned tube and train closures for this weekend in London:

Friday 28 August:

  • Central – Minor Delays
  • Circle – Minor Delays
  • Tram – Part Closure (Reeves Corner ↔ East Croydon) and Part Closure (Arena ↔ Elmers End) during mornings and evenings.

Saturday 29 August:

  • Northern – Part Closure (Archway ↔ High Barnet / Mill Hill East)
  • Windrush – Part Closure (Clapham Junction / Battersea Park ↔ Surrey Quays)
  • Tram – Part Closure (Reeves Corner ↔ East Croydon) and Part Closure (Arena ↔ Elmers End) during mornings and evenings.

Sunday 30 August:

  • DLR– Part Closure (Shadwell ↔ Tower Gateway)
  • Northern – Part Closure (Archway ↔ High Barnet / Mill Hill East)

  • Elizabeth – Part Closure (Maidenhead ↔ West Drayton) until 08:00am
  • Suffragette – Reduced Service (Barking Riverside → Gospel Oak) until 06:00am
  • Weaver – Part Closure (Hackney Downs ↔ Enfield Town / Cheshunt) after 22:45pm
  • Windrush – Part Closure (Clapham Junction / Battersea Park ↔ Surrey Quays)
