Free Domino’s pizza on UK trains this bank holiday: Dates, routes, and how to claim

Key Points

  • Trainline and Domino's are running Train Thru on 29, 30 and 31 August.
  • Free pizza goes to seats on Lumo services between London Euston and Stirling.
  • Deliveries only happen at Preston, on services stopping there between 11.30am and 9pm.
  • Any valid Lumo booking reference qualifies, with one pizza per booking.
  • Orders close at midnight the evening before departure and stock is limited.

Trainline and Domino’s will deliver free pizza to passengers’ seats on Lumo services between London Euston and Stirling across the August bank holiday weekend.

The two companies are calling the service Train Thru, and Trainline said it is the first service of its kind in the UK.

Trainline research found that 35% of Brits have attempted to order a takeaway to a station platform mid-journey.

Every order runs through Preston station, where a Domino’s driver meets the train on the platform and hands the boxes to Trainline ambassadors on the ground.

Those ambassadors then carry the order through the carriages to the passenger’s registered seat number.

The service operates on 29, 30 and 31 August, covering direct Lumo services in both directions between London Euston and Stirling.

It applies to services stopping at Preston between 11.30am and 9pm on each of those three days.

Trainline said it monitors live Lumo schedule updates and adjusts bake times to match trains that are running late.

Significant delays or cancellations will break that chain, and Trainline confirmed it cannot offer a redelivery if the handover at Preston fails.

Passengers in that position will hear from a member of the team rather than receiving a replacement pizza later in the journey.

Who can claim one?

Any passenger holding a valid booking reference for a qualifying Lumo service between London Euston and Stirling can claim, in either direction.

The booking does not need to have been made through Trainline, and the limit sits at one pizza per passenger booking.

Passengers do not need to travel the full route, but their journey must pass through Preston, because Trainline only hands over orders at that station.

Stock is limited and Trainline is allocating pizzas on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is on the menu?

Trainline and Domino’s have cut the menu down to four options to keep the platform handover moving:

  • Original Cheese and Tomato
  • Vegi Supreme
  • Pepperoni Passion
  • Plant-Based Margheri-tastic

A medium Pepperoni Passion carries 1,988kcal and contains wheat (gluten) and milk, with full allergen and nutritional information on the Domino’s corporate site.

How to claim

Passengers order through the Train Thru site, which closes reservations at midnight on the evening before the train’s scheduled departure.

That cut-off gives the Preston Domino’s kitchen enough time to prepare and bake each order ahead of the train’s arrival.

Passengers then need to be in their registered seat as the train approaches and leaves Preston, and show their digital order confirmation to the Trainline team.

Trainline is handling booking problems through [email protected].
