How much money it will cost to watch every Premier League match in the UK this season

Key Points

  • Sky Sports holds at least 215 Premier League matches this season and TNT Sports holds 52, a total of 267 from 380 fixtures.
  • Sky's 80% share claim is accurate at 80.5% of televised matches.
  • Roughly 113 matches, mainly Saturday 3pm kick-offs, are not shown live anywhere in the UK.
  • The cheapest route to every televised match costs about £42 a month; the most flexible costs about £66 a month.
  • No single subscription covers all televised Premier League football in the UK.

Watching every televised Premier League match in the UK costs between £42 and £66 a month this season, split across the two main broadcasters.

Sky Sports holds live rights packages B, C, D and E, covering a minimum of 215 live matches a season, and TNT Sports holds package A, covering 52 matches including exclusive coverage of Saturday 12.30pm kick-offs and full coverage of two midweek rounds.

That gives at least 267 televised matches from a 380-match season, and Sky’s share works out at 80.5%, which supports the “80% of all televised Premier League matches” claim in its current advertising.

Sky’s slots cover all first-pick matches, Friday nights, Saturday evenings, every Sunday fixture, Monday nights, a Multiview option at 14h00 on Sundays and all 10 matches on the final day.

Matches lost to the Saturday afternoon kick-off

The Saturday 15h00 closed period keeps roughly 113 matches off UK screens entirely.

Every match outside that window goes out live, including fixtures moved to Sunday 14h00 because of clubs’ involvement in European competitions.

The BBC holds the free-to-air highlights package for all 380 matches through Match of the Day, while Amazon Prime Video has no Premier League coverage for the first time in six years.

The cost to watch

Existing Sky TV customers can usually add Sky Sports for around £22 a month on a long-term contract, with standard post-term rates closer to £35 to £38 depending on the platform.

Sky’s streaming service NOW sells a Sports Membership at £27.99 a month on a 12-month minimum term, reverting to £34.99 a month afterwards, and a Sports Day Membership at a one-off £14.99 for 24 hours.

TNT Sports on HBO Max costs £30.99 a month contract-free, or £25 a month bought with a broadband package. A 12-month saver plan drops the standalone price to £25.99 a month.

BT and EE customers can add the Sport TV plan to any broadband package from £20 a month in standard definition, with HD and the TNT Sports Ultimate channel costing an extra £6, while Virgin Media Flex charges £25 a month for all four channels in HD.

Route Monthly cost Cost across the season
Sky TV customer, Sky Sports add-on plus TNT Sports on BT or EE TV £42.00 £420.00 (10 months)
Sky TV customer, Sky Sports add-on plus TNT Sports on HBO Max £52.99 £529.90 (10 months)
NOW Sports Saver plus TNT Sports saver plan, both on 12-month terms £53.98 £647.76 (12 months)
NOW Sports Membership plus TNT Sports monthly, no contract £65.98 £659.80 (10 months)

Every figure above sits on top of a base Sky TV or broadband package where one applies, and a TV licence covers live viewing separately. This puts the bill for watching every televised game this season at up to £730, rising above £800 for fans who also want every Champions League match across the services holding those rights.

A package deal

Sky Sports carries 12 channels plus Sky Sports+ streams, covering the EFL, Formula 1, cricket and golf alongside its 215 Premier League matches.

TNT Sports carries over 185 UEFA Champions League matches and every Europa League and Conference League match, plus the Emirates FA Cup, Gallagher PREM rugby, MotoGP, LIV Golf, UFC and Grand Tour cycling.

Neither package includes the other’s Premier League fixtures.

The new Premier League season starts on Friday (21 August) with Arsenal against Coventry City at the Emirates and runs to 30 May 2027.
