London tube and train disruptions this weekend: 16-18 January

Londoners can expect minor disruptions this weekend due to closures and delays on parts of the Underground network.

The latest network status data from Transport for London (TfL) shows a few closures expected on the London Underground for the weekend, although the London Overground network will operate without any issues or delays.

The Piccadilly line night tube will be entirely closed on Friday night, and the line will not operate at all on Saturday or Sunday due to a planned closure.

This could disrupt travellers heading to Heathrow, who will have to use the Elizabeth line service instead, which will also operate a reduced service on Sunday.

The tram network in the south of London will also experience issues this weekend, with the service partly closed between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction / Elmers End / New Addington on Saturday night.

On Sunday, the tram network will not operate at all between East Croydon and Sandilands or between Arena and Elmers End.

Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.

Below are the planned tube and train closures for this weekend in London:

Friday 16 January:

  • Central– Minor Delays (Hainault ↔ Leytonstone)
  • Northern– Minor Delays (Entire Line)
  • Piccadilly – Full Closure (Night Tube)

Saturday 17 January:

  • Piccadilly – Full Closure (Entire Line)
  • Tram– Part Closure (East Croydon ↔ Beckenham Junction / Elmers End / New Addington from 20:30pm)

Sunday 18 January:

  • Elizabeth – Reduced Service (Paddington ↔ Heathrow Terminal 4 / Maidenhead)
  • Piccadilly – Full Closure (Entire Line)
  • Tram – Part Closure (East Croydon ↔ Sandilands and Arena ↔ Elmers End)
