London tube and train disruptions this weekend: 2-4 January
The London Underground and Overground networks are returning to normal operation as the capital closes out the festive season and enters the first few days of a new year.
Travellers can expect a few disruptions, including part closures on specific lines and instances of reduced service. This is according to travel disruption data sourced from Transport for London’s network status portal on Friday 2 January.
On Friday, there are severe delays on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines caused by a customer incident. Delays also plague the Jubilee line due to an earlier fire alert.
The District line is not running any service between Earl’s Court and Kensington Olympia, and the Piccadilly line is partly closed between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. The Mildmay is also partly closed between Gospel Oak and Richmond / Shepherds Bush.
Saturday will see many services return to normal operation, although the Piccadilly line will remain partly closed. The DLR will also not run any service between Shadwell and Tower Gateway all weekend, and the Mildmay will remain partly closed through Sunday.
On Sunday, the Elizabeth line will not operate any service betwen West Drayton and Maidenhead until 11:15am.
Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.
Minor disruptions to trains services at Waterloo station will also continue through this weekend as Network Rail finishes important engineering work between the station and Clapham Junction.
