HBO has cast the lead trio for its upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ TV series, revealing the actors who will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Dominic McLaughlin will play the role of Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod executive producing and directing multiple episodes of the series.

“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,” said Gardiner and Mylod.

“The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned.”

“It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there,” they said.

More than 30,000 children auditioned for the role after an open casting call was announced last year for the series, which HBO says will be faithful adoption of the books by author J.K Rowling, who is an executive producer for the series.

Other cast members for the upcoming show were announced last month, with John Lithgow set to play the role Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall.

HBO notes that the original Harry Potter films will remain available to watch around the world.

Additional casting announcements are expected in the near future, and filming is expected to begin in the summer.
