Vodafone launches TV box with Netflix and HBO Max for £17 a month in the UK
Key Points
- Vodafone TV launches in the UK from £10 per month for existing Vodafone customers.
- The £17 Essential plan includes ad-supported Netflix and HBO Max.
- All plans rise in price every April over the 24-month contract.
- New Pro Broadband customers get Essential free until 28 October 2026.
- Switchers get up to £300 towards early termination fees.
Vodafone has launched Vodafone TV, bundling Netflix and HBO Max for £17 per month.
Vodafone announced the new 4K streaming box this week, with a standalone plan costing £10 per month and a top Ultimate plan priced at £25.50 per month.
The service is only open to customers who already have a Vodafone mobile or broadband plan. Customers can buy it from Vodafone directly or from Currys stores, although Currys only sells it as part of a broadband and TV bundle.
The Essential plan includes the ad-supported Standard with Ads tiers of Netflix and HBO Max. Those two tiers carry a combined retail price of £13.98 per month when bought separately.
Vodafone offers three plans, each on a 24-month contract:
- Vodafone TV costs £10 per month and covers the box, Freely, 150+ extra live channels and 300+ cloud games.
- Vodafone TV Essential costs £17 per month and adds Netflix and HBO Max to the standalone plan.
- Vodafone TV Ultimate costs £25.50 per month and combines Essential with Vodafone’s Disney+ or Prime entertainment plans, for mobile customers only.
Every plan rises in price on 1 April each year. Vodafone TV goes up to £11.50 in April 2027 and £13 in April 2028.
Vodafone TV Essential rises to £18.50 in April 2027 and £20 in April 2028. Vodafone TV Ultimate climbs to £27 in April 2027 and £29.50 in April 2028.
Standalone Vodafone TV customers can add Netflix and HBO Max through Vodafone’s Subscriptions+ platform on a 30-day rolling basis. The same platform also offers Disney+, DAZN, YouTube Premium and Spotify.
Free TV with Pro Broadband
New Vodafone Pro Broadband customers who sign up before 28 October 2026 get Vodafone TV Essential at no extra cost. The free plan, normally £17 per month, runs for the first 24 months of the broadband contract.
Vodafone Together customers with an existing Pay Monthly mobile line get a further £4 monthly saving when adding Pro Broadband and TV. That brings Pro Broadband with Vodafone TV Essential down to £35 per month.
Vodafone will credit customers up to £300 towards early termination fees when they switch both broadband and TV. Its One Touch Switch service handles the broadband transfer from a customer’s current provider in a single process.
One Touch Switch only covers broadband, so customers may need to cancel their old TV service separately. This depends on the provider they are leaving.
What the box does
The compact plug-in box runs Android TV and includes the following features:
- 4K picture quality with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on selected content, though not on HBO Max Standard with Ads.
- Freely built in, with more than 70 live channels and on-demand content from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5, without a dish or aerial.
- More than 300 cloud games, playable using a smartphone or a Bluetooth controller.
- Thousands of extra apps through the Google Play Store, including Prime, Disney+, Spotify and DAZN.
- Vodafone Box Office for renting or buying recent films.
- A personal My TV and Apps page for each profile, with Smart AI Search.
- A companion app for watching away from home.
- Parental controls protected by a Master PIN.
The box runs on 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Netgem’s PLEIO platform powers the Freely integration.
Brits stick with TV providers
Vodafone commissioned Opinium to poll 2,000 UK adults between 25 and 29 September 2026 ahead of the launch.
The study found that 40% of Brits feel they pay for TV services they don’t regularly use. A further 18% said searching across multiple services for something to watch was their biggest TV frustration.
Despite this, 35% of respondents have not changed their TV provider in the last five years. Of these, 16% blamed the perceived hassle of switching and 12% cited worries about exit fees.
“Our research shows that more than a third of people haven’t changed their TV provider in the last five years, with the perceived hassle of switching a big blocker and, as a result, they are still paying for features that should be standard,” said Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree.
“With Netflix and HBO Max included for £17 per month, it delivers exceptional value from day one,” Winterschladen said.
The launch forms part of VodafoneThree’s wider £11 billion network investment, which targets expanded 5G coverage across the UK.
