EE scored 83.06 for 5G coverage in Wales, while no rival network reached 29, nPerf found.
The French network measurement firm published the figures in its barometer of mobile coverage in the United Kingdom, which covers 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026.
O2 came second in Wales with a 5G score of 28.72, ahead of Vodafone on 24.98 and Three on 24.45.
EE customers in Wales found 5G in 89.31% of busy areas, weighted by the number of devices nPerf saw in each one.
That compares with 33.93% for O2 customers, 30.36% for Vodafone customers and 27.37% for Three customers.
On geographic coverage, which gives every area equal weight, EE customers recorded 5G in 76.81% of the places they visited.
None of the other three networks cleared 24% on geographic coverage in Wales.
nPerf’s maps show EE’s 5G signal running along major routes across north, mid and south Wales.
O2’s 5G signal appears almost entirely around Cardiff and the south coast, with Vodafone and Three covering scattered patches.
EE’s 5G score in Wales beat its national score of 77.02 and its scores in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Wales still recorded the lowest overall 5G score of the three nations nPerf broke out, at 40.3, behind Northern Ireland on 48.2 and Scotland on 42.6.
The gap between the networks closed sharply on 4G in Wales.
EE led on 4G with 96.70, followed by Vodafone on 93.87, Three on 93.32 and O2 on 92.96.
nPerf’s Android app gathered 399,825 5G measurements from 17,095 devices in Wales, with EE customers supplying 89% of them.
The firm scored each network only on data from its own customers, in the places those customers actually went.
The study excludes iPhone users because Apple does not give developers access to signal-strength data.
