Sky apprenticeship 2027: How to apply for the new NFTS production scheme

Sky opened applications on Monday (7 September) for two paid production apprenticeships starting in January 2027, run with the National Film and Television School (NFTS).
The broadcaster announced the Level 4 Junior Production Coordinator Apprenticeship as a 15-month programme combining paid, hands-on work at Sky Entertainment with training delivered by NFTS.
The two apprentices will take placements across Sky Studios Elstree, Sky’s Osterley campus and both scripted and unscripted productions.
Publicis Media’s APX Content Ventures is funding the scheme in partnership with Sky. Apprentices will work on live Sky projects while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Applications are open now through the NFTS website, where candidates can find the full role details and submit an entry.

McFadden added that he met film and TV executives earlier this year who called for more routes into the creative industries, and said the government’s £2.5 billion youth employment support package needs employers to play their part.
Sky’s second NFTS apprenticeship
Sky also runs a Level 4 Edit Assistant Apprenticeship with NFTS under its Sky Post Production Apprenticeship, and a new cohort begins training this month. Applications for the 2027 intake of that scheme open in October.
The post production programme takes two apprentices for 15 months, based primarily at Osterley, with 20% of the time spent on offsite learning including specialist NFTS training blocks. NFTS provides the training, support and assessment, and apprentices develop practical editing skills within Sky Post Production.
Sky said the two programmes form part of its long-standing work on routes into the creative industries, including:
- Sky Up Academy, which has reached nearly 360,000 young people since 2012
- Early careers programmes across content, production and post-production
- The Sky Post Production Apprenticeship, now in its next cohort
