A new garden in Regent’s Park dedicated to the life of Queen Elizabeth II has officially opened to the public.

The Royal Parks announced that on the new garden would be open to the public from 09:00 until 20:00 every day from Monday 27 April.

Cultivated on the site of a disused plant nursery, the two-acre garden is designed to reflect colour and contemplation as well as biodiversity and beauty.

It is located near the centre of Regent’s Park in London, just behind the Espresso Bar on the Broad Walk and close to the Avenue Gardens. The garden has four entrances, and the Royal Parks said entry is currently being managed to ensure a comfortable experience for visitors.

A stone path runs straight through the garden, representing the late Queen’s unwavering loyalty and service, and a pergola and seating area resides next to a large pond at the southern main entrance.

Small, meandering paths diverge from another main path that bisects the central promenade, allowing visitors to explore the wide range of plants chosen for the garden, many of which have a direct connection to Queen Elizabeth II. These include Lily of the valley, Narcissus ‘Diamond Jubilee’, and Tulipa ‘Royal Celebration’.

An old water tower has been converted into a feature of the garden, featuring ornate metalwork depicting the UK’s four nations. More than 40 new trees have been planted in the garden, including native species and trees from Commonwealth nations.

Toilet facilities are available near the main entrance to the garden, and there are seating places dispersed at regular intervals throughout the space.
