Keir Starmer has made several big changes to his cabinet following the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.
Rayner announced her resignation as Deputy Prime Minister and as housing secretary after the government’s ethics adviser found she had breached the ministerial code over her underpayment of stamp duty on a second flat.
Her departure precipitated a major reshuffle of the cabinet, with Starmer making sweeping changes to several key positions and appointing ministers to replace the roles previously filled by Rayner.
One of the biggest new appointments is that of David Lammy to the role of Deputy Prime Minister to replace Rayner, while also being appointed as Lord Chancellor and Security of State for Justice. Yvette Cooper will replace him as Foreign Secretary.
