Amazon is offering 1,000 new apprenticeship opportunities in the UK – how to apply

Tech giant Amazon has announced that it will offer more than 1,000 new apprenticeships in the UK in 2025.

The apprenticeships will be available across more than 40 different schemes, from data science and cyber security to marketing and engineering. The scheme will offer a wide range of opportunities across the country in Amazon businesses, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Prime Video, and Amazon Devices and Services.

The majority of courses now also include generative AI training, and this year, Amazon is also launching new programmes, including creative industries production, data centre operations, and facilities operations.

The Amazon Apprenticeship programme is recognised as one of the UK’s top apprenticeship schemes by the Government’s Department for Education. There are currently around 2,000 apprentices in Amazon’s programme, making it one of the largest and broadest apprenticeship schemes in the UK.

“The Amazon Apprenticeship programme is perfect for people of all ages who are either taking their first step on the career ladder, or for those who want to pursue a new path,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager at Amazon. “This is one of the many ways we continue to create opportunities for people inside and outside Amazon to learn new skills and gain new qualifications,” he said.

Applications are now open. For more information, visit the application portal here.

Amazon thriving in the UK

In June, Amazon announced plans to invest £40 billion in the UK over the next three years. The investment will include building four new fulfilment centres and new delivery stations nationwide, as well as upgrades and expansions to its existing network of over 100 operations buildings across the country.

The investment is expected to create thousands of new permanent, full-time jobs in the UK, with the vast majority outside of London and the South East.

These include 2,000 jobs at the previously announced state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in Hull and 2,000 jobs at another in Northampton, plus additional positions at new sites in the East Midlands and at delivery stations across the country.

Amazon pays full-time employees a minimum of £28,000 per year (£30,000 in London), and will create over 60 different roles at the new sites, including positions for robotics technicians, safety experts, and mechatronic engineers.

Alongside the planned creation of the new operations facilities, the £40 billion investment includes: opening two new buildings at Amazon’s corporate HQ in East London. The investment also includes part of the £8 billion previously announced in September 2024 for building, operating, and maintaining data centres in the UK.
