British company Nothing unveils its first flagship smartphone

British smartphone company Nothing has unveiled the Phone 3, its first flagship handset designed to compete with high-end devices from other Android smartphone manufacturers.

Founded in 2021 by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei and based in London, Nothing aims to offer simple devices built on transparent technology, with a distinctive design that sets them apart from other manufacturers.

The Phone 3 certainly follows this philosophy, sporting a striking rear panel with a unique dot-matrix display that can show programmable gyphs based on custom inputs or your usage activities.

This ‘Glyph Matrix’ display sits at the top-right corner of the phone and is designed to reduce screen time, offering a glimpse at notifications, progress indicators, and other information without needing to activate the device’s primary display.

The Glyph Matrix can also be customised with various ‘Glyph Toys’, which can be anything from simple games to battery indicators, and developers will be able to build their own Glyph Toys for the dot-matrix display using a public SDK.

The Nothing Phone 3 features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,800 and refresh rate of 120Hz. At the back, it
sports a triple-lens camera array, comprising a 50MP main lens, 50MP periscope lens, and 50MP ultra-wide lens.

The device boasts a 50MP front-facing camera, and all photos are enhanced by the Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 4, a software tool that automatically adjusts images for superior photo quality.

A 5,150mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging and 15W wireless charging powers the device, and the Phone 3 is also capable of 7.5W reverse wireless charging to help top up other devices.

Global pre-orders for the Nothing Phone 3 open on 4 July 2025 from the Nothing website and with selected partners, with the device officially going on sale on 15 July 2025.

The device is available in two configurations in either white or black, priced as follows:

• Nothing Phone 3 16GB RAM + 512GB Storage – £899
