Tinder now lets you find double dates

Tinder Double Date

Mobile dating app Tinder has launched a new feature called Double Date that lets you pair up with a friend to match with potential partners.

Tinder users can select up to three friends to create a pair with, and they can then scroll through other Double Date pairs and like those profiles they are interested in.

If a pair likes you and your friend back, a match will be made and a group chat will be created, allowing all four of you to easily share conversation or plan a physical date.

Tinder said this feature proved exceptionally popular amongst Gen Z and younger millennials, which it added is unsurprising as Gen Z makes up more than half of its user base and approaches dating as a ‘team sport’.

The new feature is positioned as a way to make the experience of matching and meeting someone through the app more fun and social while removing the pressure associated with one-on-one meetings.

Tinder said that women who used the Double Date feature are three-times more likely to swipe right on a pair than an individual profile, with match rates being significantly higher.

“Not only did Double Date drive stronger engagement during testing, it also helped attract new and returning users — nearly 15% of those who accepted a Double Date invite were either new to Tinder or recently reactivated,” the company said.

“Whether you’re getting ready, meeting someone new, or catching up after the date, Double Date makes dating feel more fun, social, and supportive—especially for women and younger users.”

The new Double Date feature is now available in the United States and select markets, with a global rollout planned for next month.
