Vodafone is bringing 8Gbps broadband to UK homes

Vodafone announced that its new Pro 4 Broadband package will bring 8Gbps speeds to UK homes later this year.

Vodafone said Pro 4 will deliver the UK’s fastest broadband speeds through its new Ultra Hub 7+ tri-band WiFi 7 router.

The operator is already trialling Pro 4 in real homes on the CityFibre network, where customers recorded 8Gbps download speeds and upload speeds of up to 6.5Gbps.

At 8Gbps, Vodafone said customers could download a 1GB file in around a second and a 4K film in roughly 20 seconds.

The package includes Super WiFi 7+ boosters, Vodafone’s WiFi Guarantee, 4G Broadband Back-Up and Smart Modes, which let customers prioritise WiFi for specific devices.

4G Broadband Back-Up keeps customers online through Vodafone’s mobile network if their fixed connection drops.

Pro 4 customers also get access to Vodafone’s Broadband Xperts support team and receive Secure Net Home at no extra cost.

“Our Pro 4 trials are already giving customers across the UK access to true 8Gbps performance, and combined with our successful 10Gbps testing on 50GPON, we’re showing what next-generation connectivity can unlock for homes powered by AI, cloud and high-capacity connected devices,” said Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree.

Vodafone reaches 26.1 million homes and premises with full fibre, which it said makes it the UK’s largest full fibre provider across the United Kingdom.
