Vodafone offering £100 to switch to its SIM only plans

Vodafone will give new SIM only customers a £100 bill credit when they move to one of its 24-month plans, worth the equivalent of £4.16 a month off the contract.

Vodafone announced the Switcher Offer alongside a wider push to bring people onto its SIM only range, which now includes the SuperMobile plans it launched on its 5G+ network. The operator said the credit applies to every 24-month SIM only plan it sells.

With the credit factored in, the Unlimited 100Mbps Plus plan with EU roaming works out at £21.84 a month from a list price of £26. The Unlimited 100Mbps Premier plan with global roaming drops from £31 a month to the equivalent of £26.84.

Vodafone’s 30GB SuperMobile SIM only plan starts at £30 a month, or the equivalent of £25.84 once the £100 credit is applied. The operator said its SuperMobile plans deliver up to four times faster speeds than its standard plans in busy areas, with a guaranteed minimum download speed of 15Mbps when customers are in 5G+ coverage.

Customers on a SuperMobile plan can leave without an early termination charge if Vodafone confirms the guaranteed speed is not being met and cannot fix the problem within 30 days.

Vodafone said it found no other operator in the world offering a numeric speed guarantee paired with a penalty-free exit, based on research it completed in August.

The SuperMobile plans also include Secure Net Mobile at no extra cost, and the faster speeds come from a network slicing technology Vodafone calls 5G+ FastTrack.

Vodafone said the feature switches on automatically when a customer with an eligible phone connects to 5G+ on a SuperMobile plan.

The £100 credit comes with several conditions attached, including:

• You must open a new Vodafone account and buy a 24-month SIM only plan during the offer period
• Existing Vodafone, Three, VOXI, Smarty and Talkmobile customers do not qualify
• Business customers are excluded from the offer
• Plans bought through third-party retailers such as Currys and Mobiles.co.uk do not count

All Vodafone pay monthly airtime plans rise by £2.50 a month every April, which adds up to £60 across a 24-month term and cancels out most of the £100 credit over the life of the contract. Out-of-bundle charges also rise each April by the January Consumer Price Index rate plus 3.9%.

Vodafone’s SIM only range also includes plans with roaming across 52 European destinations or 84 worldwide destinations, plus access to the VeryMe Rewards loyalty programme for all mobile customers.
