  • Full-time salaries now start at £31,408, or £33,488 in higher-cost locations
  • The rise is up to 5.6%, with pay up 44% since 2022

  • The increase forms part of Amazon's £40 billion UK investment to 2027

Amazon will raise minimum starting pay for its UK frontline operations staff to £15.10 an hour from 27 September 2026, taking the lowest full-time salary to £31,408 a year.

Amazon announced the increase on 16 September 2026, describing it as an above-inflation rise for tens of thousands of employees across its UK fulfilment and operations network.

The company said the rise covers all full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal frontline roles, and that it lifts minimum starting pay by up to 5.6% depending on location.

The new rates break down as follows:

  • Standard locations: Minimum starting pay rises 5.6% to £15.10 an hour, or £31,408 a year for full-time staff
  • Higher-cost locations: Minimum starting pay rises 5.2% to £16.10 an hour, or £33,488 a year for full-time staff

Amazon said its minimum starting pay has risen by 80p an hour in the past year and by 44% since 2022.

“Our frontline teams are the backbone of our business, and this pay increase reflects that. Starting salaries now exceed £31,000 a year, and we’ll continue investing in our people because they deserve it,” said John Boumphrey, Amazon UK Country Manager.

“Whether someone is starting their first role or building a long-term career, there’s a path for them here,” he added.

Grocery discount and other benefits

Alongside the pay rise, Amazon will give employees 10% off eligible groceries and everyday essentials on Amazon.co.uk from 1 October 2026, with no cap on the discount.

The company said the discount covers fresh groceries as well as categories such as cleaning products, nappies and pet food.

Frontline employees also receive private medical insurance, life insurance, income protection, free Prime membership and a company pension from their first day.

Amazon’s Career Choice programme funds 100% of nationally recognised training courses up to £3,000 a year, whether or not the qualification leads to a role at Amazon.

More than 30,000 UK employees have used the programme since it launched in 2014, and Amazon announced an £800 million global investment in it in June 2026.

The pay rise forms part of Amazon’s £40 billion UK investment commitment running from 2025 to 2027, which the company said is its largest investment outside the United States, with more than £15 billion already delivered.
