A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed for publishing a podcast and social media posts that included offensive and derogatory language.
The Met announced that PC Idominik Efeotor has been dismissed for misconduct over his behaviour on public platforms.
In an accelerated misconduct hearing, it was revealed that Efeotor published his own podcast episodes and social media posts.
Efeotor identified himself as a serving officer in this content, which was found to include offensive, insulting, and derogatory language towards other officers, staff, and individuals.
His language reportedly included referring to the DPS “absolute wastemen and that cesspit”, and calling a DPS officer a “batty hole liar” on another.
The officer also discussed sensitive information related to misconduct proceedings and published material that could have led to an officer who was the subject of an anonymity direction being identified.
Efeotor, who was based within the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, had previously disclosed his podcast as a business interest, but permission for this interest was later withdrawn.
Despite this withdrawal of permission, the officer continued to publish content after repeated warnings, even as his own misconduct hearing was underway.
Efeotor was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour and was dismissed from the Met without notice. He will be barred from working in policing in the future.
“Our officers can be in no doubt as to how they are expected to act on social media, and it is clear that PC Efeotor breached these standards on many occasions and despite repeated warnings,” said Met Police Head of Special Operations Commander Adam Slonecki.
“Not only does behaviour like this undermine public confidence in the Met, but it had a harmful and lasting impact on those he openly criticised, as well as the rest of his colleagues.”
“There is no place in policing for anyone whose values are so far removed from what we would expect, and it is right he has been dismissed from the organisation,” he said.
