Apple has officially unveiled its new lineup of iPhones, including the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
During its “Surprise and Shine” event on Wednesday 9 September, the company revealed a range of new premium hardware, including the first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo.
For the first time, Apple has split its iPhone generation between two launch windows, announcing the premium devices in September while it is expected to launch the standard iPhone 18 and budget variants in spring 2027.
Today’s event saw the reveal of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone Duo, alongside the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, both of which sport upgraded chips and improved sensors.
The two new iPhone Pro models sport a similar design to last year’s devices but now feature the A20 Pro chip, which is built on a 2-nanometre process.
The main camera system on both devices now sports a variable aperture, which is a first for any iPhone. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max also have a smaller Dynamic Island cutout and larger batteries than their predecessors.
The foldable iPhone Duo is Apple’s first production attempt at a foldable smartphone, and the company has chosen a folio-style design with a 5.5-inch cover screen and 7.8-inch inner OLED display.
Packing the same chipset and C2 modem as the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the device uses Touch ID rather than Face ID and is capable of running two applications side-by-side in Split View when opened, alongside several other user experiences unique to its foldable form factor.
UK pricing and release dates
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to release on Friday 18 September, with pre-orders going live on Saturday 12 September. The iPhone Duo is set to release on 23 October, with pre-orders open on 16 October.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are available in black, silver, glacier, and an all-new burgundy colour. The iPhone Duo is available in Star White or Night Sky.
