Good news for Sky customers who watch on their phones

Sky has launched a new version of its Sky Go app for Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers, adding full HD streaming, remote recording and a redesigned interface modelled on its TV software.
Sky announced the update on Tuesday (8 September), with the new app available to download now from the App Store and Google Play under the name Sky Go (Glass/Stream).
The app streams in up to 1080p full HD on compatible devices and connections, and a new Continue Watching row lets customers pick up a show on mobile or tablet from where they stopped on the TV.
Customers can also set shows, films and live sport to record while they are out, with the recording waiting on their Sky Glass or Sky Stream when they get home.
“Great entertainment should fit around customers’ lives. Millions of customers already use Sky Go to watch what they love when they’re out and about,” said Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW.
“The new version is designed for Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers, bringing more of the experience they enjoy on the big screen to their devices, so it’s easier to pick up a show, follow the match or set something to record wherever they are,” she added.
The design borrows from Sky OS, the operating system that runs Sky Glass and Sky Stream, and a new navigation bar puts Home, the TV Guide, My Library, Sport and Search within one tap.
My Library gathers everything a customer has saved to their Playlist at home, along with recently watched content, downloads and anything set to record on the TV.
Show and film pages now carry cast and crew details, Rotten Tomatoes scores and recommendations, while a new parents’ guide on kids’ films flags what is suitable for younger viewers.
A dedicated Sport section groups what is live now, what is coming up and anything saved for later, and fans can follow their Premier League team and pin it to My Library.
Sky said the section covers more than 1,500 football matches this season alongside every Formula 1 race weekend, international cricket Tests and the golf Majors, with additional live events available through Sky Sports+.
Sky Go is included at no extra cost with a Sky TV subscription, and Sky Mobile customers can stream without using their mobile data.
Sky Q customers keep the existing Sky Go (Q/+) app, which retains live and on-demand TV and remote recording, with Multiscreen subscribers still able to download recordings directly from their box.
Sky said a laptop version of the new app for Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers will follow soon.
