Co-op to offer early morning online shopping in the UK aimed at school runs

Co-op is adding 750,000 online delivery slots a year from 07h00 across more than 1,200 UK stores, with orders arriving in as little as 60 minutes.
The convenience retailer announced the earlier opening hours on Thursday (3 September) to coincide with pupils returning to school this week.
The extra slots are available through Co-op’s own online shop at shop.coop.co.uk and through its delivery partners Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.
Staff pick each order fresh in the customer’s local store before it is sent out, and Co-op said the service reaches almost 90% of the UK population.
The earlier start is aimed at parents who discover a missing lunchbox or cookery class item on a school morning and need it delivered before the school run.
Co-op is running member price savings, 3-for-2 offers and Aldi Price Match products on lunchbox staples during the same period, covering sandwich ingredients, snacks, fruit and drinks.
“Every parent knows the feeling of getting everything ready for the new school year and then realising that something is missing,” said Gary Kisby, Quick Commerce Trading Director at Co-op.
“When life is busy enough, whether it is back to school or getting back into your usual work routine, quick online home delivery of groceries can bring forgotten lunchbox items to your door in minutes, giving families a convenient way to avoid last minute stressful situations,.”
Co-op Group operates more than 2,300 food stores across the UK and is owned by around 7.2 million member-owners, with annual revenues of over £11 billion.
