London Tube and Overground disruptions this weekend: 21-23 August

  • London Underground and Overground services will be severely disrupted this weekend, with the bulk of issues expected for Saturday and Sunday.
  • The District line will be significantly disrupted, with sections of the line partly closed the entire weekend, and the entire line closed on Saturday morning.
  • The Circle and Hammersmith & City will also be completely closed on Saturday morning, and there will be part closures on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines.
  • Tram services in South London continue to be severely disrupted and partly closed according to a predefined schedule.

Significant disruptions are expected to hit London Underground and Overground services this weekend, with customers advised to check for delays and part closures before they travel.

According to travel status information from Transport for London (TfL), which shows the expected disruptions to its network in the coming days.

Delays plague several Underground lines on Friday 21 August, with the Central and Circle line suffering minor delays, and services on the Victoria line severely delayed.

The Windrush line is not running any service between Surrey Quays and New Cross on Friday, and there are minor delays between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon.

On Saturday morning until 10:30am, the Circle, District, and Hammersmith & City lines will be entirely closed, with no service running at all, and the Metropolitan line will be partly closed. After 10:30, the Circle and District lines will also remain partly closed, with no service running on large sections of these lines.

Early on Saturday morning, there will be no service on the entire Piccadilly line, and there will be no service between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town until 14:00pm.

Ongoing severe disruption is affecting the tram network in South London until the end of August, with no service between Reeves Corner and East Croydon, and no service between Arena and Elmers End at certain times in the evening and early morning.

The Mildmay line will run a reduced service on Saturday evening, from 21:00pm onwards.

On Sunday, the Elizabeth line will not run between West Drayton and Maidenhead until 08:00am.

Also on Sunday, large sections of the District line will remain partly closed, with no service between Stamford Brook to Barons Court, from Earls Court to Stamford Brook, between Earls Court and Kensington, and between Fulham Broadway and Wimbledon.

Sunday will also see the Mildmay line partly closed between Clapham Junction and Wimbledon until 09:30am, and between Camden Road and Stratford from 22:15pm. The Windrush line will not run any service between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace / West Croydon on Sunday.

Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.

  • Tram – Part Closure (Reeves Corner ↔ East Croydon) and Part Closure (Arena ↔ Elmers End) during mornings and evenings.

Saturday 22 August:

  • Circle – Planned Closure (Entire line until 10:30am) and Part Closure (Edgeware Road ↔ Tower Hill)
  • District – Planned Closure (Entire line until 10:30am) and Part Closures:
    • Edgware Road / Embankment ↔ Ealing Broadway / Kensington (Olympia) / Richmond / Wimbledon until 14:00pm
    • Stamford Brook → Barons Court from 14:00pm
    • Earls Court → Stamford Brook from 14:00pm
    • Earls Court ↔ Kensington (Olympia) from 14:00pm
    • Fulham Broadway ↔ Wimbledon from 14:00pm
  • Hammersmith & City – Planned Closure (Entire line until 10:30am)
  • Metropolitan – Part Closure (Harrow-on-the-Hill ↔ Aldgate until 10:30am)
  • Piccadilly – Planned Closure (Entire line from 01:45am until 04:45am) and Part Closure (Hyde Park Corner ↔ Acton Town until 14:00pm)
  • Mildmay – Reduced Service (Willesden Junction → Stratford from 21:00pm)
  • Tram – Part Closure (Reeves Corner ↔ East Croydon) and Part Closure (Arena ↔ Elmers End) during mornings and evenings.

Sunday 23 August:

  • Elizabeth – Part Closure (Maidenhead ↔ West Drayton) until 08:00am
  • Mildmay – Part Closure (Clapham Junction ↔ Willesden Junction until 09:30am) and Part Closure (Camden Road ↔ Stratford from 22:15pm)
  • Windrush – Part Closure (New Cross Gate ↔ Crystal Palace / West Croydon) and Part Closure (Highbury & Islington ↔ Dalston Kingsland from 22:15pm)
  • Tram – Part Closure (Reeves Corner ↔ East Croydon) and Part Closure (Arena ↔ Elmers End) during mornings and evenings.
