Rockstar Games has confirmed that pre-orders for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on 25 June on digital storefronts and at other select retailers.
No official pricing details have been provided, but rumours have swirled that the game will cost more than the standard £60 for most games due to its popularity and high development costs.
Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is one of the most highly anticipated games of all time and is expected to sell millions of copies. As of May 2025, Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 215 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time.
The game has been a commercial success since its 2013 release, continually selling millions of copies each year across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
However, its development has not been without controversy. In late 2025, Rockstar Games was accused by a trade union of sacking staff in the UK to stop them from unionising.
The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which represents people working in the gaming sector, said 31 workers were fired from Rockstar’s UK studios on 30 October.
The union led rallies outside the company’s offices in Edinburgh and London to protest what it described as “the most blatant and ruthless act of union busting in the history of the games industry”.
The case is still ongoing.
