Tube and train disruptions this weekend: 29 – 31 May
Key Points
- Disruptions are expected across certain Underground and Overground lines this weekend.
- The Piccadilly line will be partly closed throughout the weekend as work continues to prepare the line for new, air-conditioned trains.
- The DLR will be partly closed all weekend, and the Bakerloo line will also not operate between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen's Park on Saturday and Sunday.
Those travelling on the Tube and Overground this weekend can expect disruptions on certain lines, with several services closed over the coming days.
This is according to the latest travel status data from Transport for London (TfL), which outlines the expected disruptions to the Underground and Overground networks in the coming days.
The Piccadilly line, which is currently undergoing work to prepare it for a fleet of new trains, will not operate between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge or Acton Town and Heathrow all weekend.
The line is being prepared for new, more spacious trains that are longer, more efficient, and are the first Deep Tube carriages with air conditioning. Until the new rolling stock begins to roll out in December, weekend disruptions on the Piccadilly line will be fairly common.
On both Friday and Saturday, the DLR will not operate between Beckton and Prince Regent, and the Hammersmith & City line is suffering minor delays on Friday due to train cancellations.
At the time of writing on Friday, service across the entire Suffragette line was suspended due to a signal failure.
On Saturday and Sunday, services on the Bakerloo line will be suspended between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone for the whole weekend.
The Lioness line will also be completely closed over the weekend, with no service across any section of the line.
Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.
