London tube and train disruptions this weekend: 17-19 April

Ahead of next week’s looming tube strikes, transport in London will only be mildly disrupted this weekend, although several lines will be partly closed.

Tube drivers from the RMT union are organising a strike for next week that is expected to cause disruption across the London Ungerground network.

If TfL and the union cannot find a resolution, the strike will commence on Tuesday 21 April and end on Friday 24 April, causing disruption across the capital’s transport network.

This weekend, however, the outlook is relatively bright for London commuters. This is according to Transport for London’s network status portal, which displays all current and expected disruptions to Underground and Overground services.

On Friday, the only line expected to be affected by disruption is the Metropolitan, which is experiencing severe delays due to train cancellations.

On Saturday, the District, DLR, and Piccadilly lines will each be partly closed, with no service on certain sections of these lines.

These lines will continue to be partly closed on Sunday, when the Elizabeth line will also not operate between Ealing Broadway and Paddington until 07:45am.

The Mildmay line will be partly closed on Sunday, with no service running between Willesden Junction and Richmond, and a reduced service operating between Willesden Junction and Stratford.

Replacement bus services are running throughout the weekend where necessary to address line closures. Note that Waterloo & City services do not operate on the weekend.

Below are the planned tube and train closures for this weekend in London:

Friday 17 April:

  • Metropolitan – Severe Delays (Harrow-on-the-Hill ↔ Watford)

Saturday 18 April:

  • District – Part Closure (Earl’s Court ↔ Ealing Broadway / Richmond)
  • DLR – Part Closure (Shadwell ↔ Bank)
  • Piccadilly – Part Closure (Hyde Park Corner ↔ Acton Town)

Sunday 19 April:

  • District – Part Closure (Earl’s Court ↔ Ealing Broadway / Richmond)
  • DLR – Part Closure (Shadwell ↔ Bank)
  • Elizabeth – Part Closure (Ealing Broadway ↔ Paddington until 07:45am)
  • Piccadilly – Part Closure (Hyde Park Corner ↔ Acton Town)
  • Mildmay – Part Closure (Willesden Junction ↔ Richmond)
