The UK parcel delivery giant Evri, long criticised for inconsistent service and frustrating customer experiences, is turning to AI intelligence to improve deliveries for millions of Brits.
The group is teaming up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Databricks to roll out an AI-powered tool called Veri Snap AI. The technology builds on Evri’s existing Parcel Vision system by automatically analysing the roughly 90 million delivery photos its couriers snap each month.
Using AWS’s Amazon Nova Lite generative AI model through Amazon Bedrock, Veri Snap AI checks every photo for compliance, verifying that parcels are left in the correct, safe locations and that the images meet quality standards.
The system flags non-compliant deliveries for proactive review, potentially triggering investigations, additional courier training, or other fixes before customers even notice a problem.
Evri, which handles around 900 million parcels annually across the UK, trialled the tool on more than 20 million photos before deciding to deploy it network-wide.
The company says future updates could include real-time compliance checks during deliveries and AI-generated suggestions for the safest drop-off spots based on past patterns.
“Harnesing AI through our collaboration with AWS and Databricks marks a pivotal moment in Evri’s AI transformation,” said Marcus Hunter, Chief Technology Officer at Evri Group.
“Veri Snap AI allows us to proactively enhance the delivery experience for millions of customers, working towards a future where every parcel photo meets our standards. This innovation improves transparency and trust, whilst empowering our teams to focus on what matters most – delivering excellence.”
The move comes as Evri aims to shed its longstanding image as one of the UK’s more unreliable couriers.
Recent years have seen persistent complaints about parcels marked “delivered” but never received, items left in unsafe or incorrect spots, delays, and poor customer service.
In late 2025, dozens of customers contacted media outlets like the BBC to report issues, prompting apologies from the company and interventions from MPs. Ofcom surveys have repeatedly ranked Evri at or near the bottom for customer satisfaction among major parcel firms.
