New BlackBerry-inspired smartphone with physical keyboard unveiled
Clicks, the company which produces physical keyboards designed to fit popular iPhone and Android devices, has announced its new Communicator smartphone with a design reminiscent of old-school BlackBerry handsets.
The Clicks Communicator runs a custom version of Android 16 and can be used as a standalone smartphone or a companion to your main device.
The device features a touch-sensitive physical keyboard for tactile typing and navigation, and Clicks said its software and hardware are purposefully designed for communication, productivity, and intentional use.
It sports a 4.03-inch 1,080 x 1,200 AMOLED touch-screen display above its physical keyboard, as well as a 4,000mAh battery with wireless charging, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, and 5G connectivity.
A 50MP sits at the back of the device, and a 24MP selfie camera is placed at the front. The device features 256GB of storage with MicroSD card support and a 3.5mm audio jack.
On the right of the Communicator’s frame is the Signal Light – a customisable button that lights up in different colours depending on the type of notification you receive.
When the button is pressed, it can be used to dictate voice messages or send voice notes.
The back cover of the Communicator is available in a variety of colours and is easily swappable, allowing you to customise the device as you need.
The Clicks Communicator is slated to start shipping later this year, but customers can already reserve their device by either paying the full price of $399 or a $199 deposit for priority access.
After the early bird sales have completed, the Clicks Communicator will ship globally for $499.
