Prince Andrew stripped of titles

Buckingham Palace has announced that Prince Andrew will be stripped of all titles and moved out of his home at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

In a statement published on Thursday evening (30 October),  the palace said that he will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

“Their majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

Andrew has repeatedly been accused of having ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. In recent years, Andrew has also been criticised for his closeness to certain Chinese diplomats and a possible spy ring.

In the last few days, it emerged that Prince Andrew invited Cai Qi, the senior Chinese official at the centre of the Beijing spy case, into Buckingham Palace for lunch in 2018.
