Co-op has announced that it will continue to grow its new ‘on the go’ micro store format with the launch of its latest store in the Stamford Quarter in Altrincham.

The Co-op Group is one of the world’s largest consumer co-operatives, operating across food retail, funerals, insurance, and legal services. It now boast more than 2,300 food stores, 800 funeral homes and a wholesale business supplying around 6,000 additional outlets.

Co-op’s ‘on the go’ concept focusses on a range dedicated to serving the growing ‘food-on-the-go’ consumer culture, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner in exciting new formats, from traditional meal deals to the inclusion of a hot food serve-over-counter and deli-inspired selections.

Between 7am-7pm the doors are open to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with online home delivery also available.

After 7pm the store makes the move to online trading only, which includes Co-op’s Irresistible Pizzas cooked and delivered in minutes via Co-op’s commerce partners Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Extensive new product development exclusive to the format includes all day breakfast meal pots, berry burst bircher and, apple and cinnamon overnight oats.

For lunch, a new deli-selection will serve offerings such as smoked salmon, egg and spinach pots; sweet potato bhaji wrap; falafel and houmous salad bowls; chicken, bacon and avocado caesar wrap and, tomato, mozzarella & pesto focaccia bagels.

Co-op’s first ‘on-the-go’ store launched in Solihull in July, a UK first for a national grocer.

Co-op said it is focused on scaling the roll-out of its new format store, which will be situated in high foot-traffic locations and are designed to champion the convenience retailer’s ‘on-the-go’ expertise through the unique and innovative format.
