  • Record-high migrant crossings: More than 1,100 migrants arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel on Saturday, the highest number recorded on a single day so far in 2025. The latest Home Office figures showed 1,194 people arrived in 18 small boats. [BBC]
  • Wealthy leave the UK: At least 10% of the UK’s wealthy non-dom population have left the country following tighter tax rules introduced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government, a new report shows. [Bloomberg]
  • UK to become war-ready: The UK plans to build 12 attack submarines as it moves to become war-ready. The submarines are part of a strategic defence review, which promises major investment in submarines, long-range missiles, cyber defence and £1.5 billion on at least six new munitions factories.   • Energy prices are slowing growth: Trade groups have warned that the government’s long-awaited industrial policy is at risk of being derailed by the high energy prices charged to UK manufacturers. The sector’s energy bills are 46% higher than the global average. [Guardian]
  • On Monday, Oil was trading slightly lower at $64.39 a barrel. The pound was trading at £1.35 to the dollar, £1.19 to the euro and £9.71 to the yuan.
