  • ‘Category A’ nuclear incident at naval base: The Ministry of Defence has admitted that a serious nuclear incident took place at the Faslane naval base in Scotland earlier this year. The ‘category A’ event is defined as one which carries “actual or high potential for radioactive release to the environment”. [The Times]
  • Data centres to be expanded across the UK: The number of data centres in the UK is set to increase drastically over the next five years, currently at 477 with almost 100 more planned to be built. Concerns have been raised over how these data centres will be powered, however, and many are also funded by US tech giants or major investment firms. [BBC]
  • Fears of non-dom exodus allayed: Recent tax data has soothed fears of an exodus of non-doms from the United Kingdom, showing that the number of non-doms leaving the UK has remained steady or even slightly declined. Following her Autumn Budget, Reeves was told to expect a mass exodus of non-doms from the country in response to her tightening tax rules, but this has seemingly not manifested in the manner predicted by widely cited anecdotal evidence.
