The Sunday Times has published its annual ‘Rich List’, detailing the UK’s wealthiest people and how they earned their fortunes. Now in its 37th year, the list is based on estimates of the minimum wealth of Britain’s 350 richest people or families. The valuations were carried out between November 2024 and 28 April 2025.
The list considers various asset classes when considering ‘wealth’, including land, property, racehorses, art or significant shares in publicly quoted companies. It excludes bank accounts to which researchers have no access and small shareholdings in a private equity portfolio. As a result, the actual size of someone’s fortune may be much larger than these figures.
The Sunday Times noted that this was one of the most difficult lists to compile since its inception, given the impact of Donald Trump and his tariff regime, which caused mass global instability in stock markets. As a result, some of the world’s richest people saw billions of pounds wiped out or added to their net worth in a single day.
This year’s list is also notable in that it represents the third year in a row that collective wealth has fallen and the biggest drop in the number of UK billionaires since the rich list’s inception.
The ten wealthiest people on this year’s list include:

Gopi Hinduja, the UK’s wealthiest man, is the Chairman of his family company the Hinduja Group. For many years, he co-chaired the business with his brother, Sri, who died in 2023.
The firm has its beginnings in a business founded by the brothers’ father, Parmanand Hinduja, in 1914. It now employs around 200,000 people globally and has interests spanning healthcare, banking, communications, real estate, the media and the hospitality industry.
The biggest loser on this year’s list was Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose wealth fell by over £6.4 billion year-on-year. Mimicking the form of Manchester United, which he co-owns, Ratcliffe saw a fall down the table from fourth last year to seventh this year.
Other notable entries on this year’s list include King Charles, who saw his wealth rise this year to a sum of £640 million. Harry Styles (£225 million), Ed Sheeran (£370 million) and Dua Lipa (£115 million) are some of the celebrity names to make it on this year’s list.
